Self portrait with scissors and heavy thoughts
Pencils on cotton paper, ceramic
in 2022 Mahsa Amini was murdered in Iran because her hair was sticking out of her hijab. Her death caused a great uproar and women in Iran started burning hijabs and cutting their hair. This incident left a deep impression on me - here is a self-portrait from an observation of a combination of objects that surrounded me which for me symbolize abundance and routine, the braid that comes out of the ceramic frame hides my face as a sign of "modesty", the feeling of privilege - of being a free woman in her home in Tel Aviv collided with the horrible reality that women live in another city, in another dimension.
